2 tablespoons hot water (about 175°F or 80°C)
Optional: ½ teaspoon honey, maple syrup, or stevia
¾ cup milk (whole, oat, almond, or soy)
Instructions
Sift the matcha powder into a bowl or mug to avoid clumps
Add hot water and whisk briskly in a zig-zag motion until frothy
Add sweetener if desired and mix
Heat milk until steaming but not boiling
Froth milk using a frother, steamer, blender, or by shaking in a sealed jar
Pour milk over the matcha base, holding back the foam and spooning it on top last
Optional: Sprinkle extra matcha or cinnamon on top before serving
Notes
Use ceremonial grade matcha for the smoothest flavor. Avoid boiling water to prevent bitterness. Froth the milk well for that café-style experience.
